Combat Veteran is a simple two-player tactical combat system that simulates the dynamics of infantry combat at the individual (man-to-man) level. This game features two historic scenarios as the introduction to the wider system: Firefight at the Rice Paddy Angle (Vietnam, Mekong region 1967), and Firefight at Combat Outpost Keating (Afghanistan in the Nuristan Province, 2009). Both firefights involved about a platoon of US infantry against an entrenched or numerically superior enemy force. The US and Viet Cong game pieces represent specific, individual (and historic) men of their respective units, whereas Taliban game pieces usually represent several men each. Though the game is meant for two players (one US and one enemy) per scenario, the system allows for multiple players to participate in the same game, allowing each player to control some specific game pieces while another player controls the other pieces on the same side.
