44 BCE: A Game of Strategy and Betrayal is a historical strategy game of ambition, conspiracy, and shifting alliances in the aftermath of Julius Caesar’s assassination.
Product Type: Standalone board game.
On the Ides of March, 44 BCE, Julius Caesar is dead and Rome has no clear ruler. Players take the roles of powerful historical figures such as Agrippa, Brutus, Cleopatra, Mark Antony, and Octavian, each trying to gain enough Imperium to dominate the collapsing Republic.
Each year, the Senate grants Imperium Maius to the strongest leader. The other players must cooperate long enough to bring that leader down, while still scheming, negotiating, and betraying one another to improve their own position. After six rounds, the player with the most Imperium becomes the first Emperor of Rome.
This is a dramatic political strategy game built around negotiation, temporary alliances, and carefully timed betrayal rather than battlefield combat.
Contents include: game board, character materials, cards, tokens, and rules. Exact contents should be checked against the physical copy before final listing.
