A Time for Trumpets is a large battalion-level wargame on the Battle of the Bulge, covering the German Ardennes offensive of December 1944. The game uses detailed command and control, formation supply, fatigue, weather, air operations, artillery, engineers, bridges, demolitions, fuel shortages, and other battlefield systems to recreate the operational struggle across the Ardennes.

Ground units are mostly battalions, with headquarters, combat support units, artillery, engineers, anti-tank, anti-aircraft, reconnaissance, and air units all playing distinct battlefield roles. Scenarios include the campaign game and several focused operational situations, including the 6th Panzer Army, 5th Panzer Army, 7th Army, Patton’s Relief of Bastogne, and the Race to the Meuse.

Contents include: 5 full-size game maps, 12 counter sheets with 2304 playing pieces, 1 rules booklet, 1 scenario booklet, 1 play aid manual, four 11" x 17" player aid cards, four 8.5" x 11" player aid cards, and 2 dice.
