Players command the forces of the Axis or Allies in the desert war, with Germany and Italy facing the United Kingdom and, eventually, the United States. The campaign focuses on logistics, convoy interception, minefields, supplies, and the struggle to keep forces moving and fighting across North Africa.

The game includes two scenarios: Rommel’s Last Push and Operation Torch. With more than 250 plastic miniatures and new unit types such as trucks, anti-tank guns, scout cars, and LRDG jeeps, Axis & Allies: North Africa gives the familiar system a strongly logistical desert-war focus.
