Balaclava: Breaking the Siege

Balaclava: Breaking the Siege is a compact Crimean War board wargame from Decision Games covering the Battle of Balaclava on 25 October 1854. The Anglo-French-Turkish siege of Sevastopol depended on holding the British base at Balaclava, where a Russian attack almost broke through the exposed Allied flank.

Using the Musket & Saber QuickPlay system, the game emphasizes unit quality, reserves, leadership, and coordinated use of infantry, artillery, and cavalry. Infantry can hold stubbornly, artillery can break attacks but is fragile, and cavalry is limited but dangerous when used at the right moment. Special rules cover the Allied redoubts, making control of key ground central to victory.
