Colonial Twilight is a strategic COIN series game covering the French-Algerian War of 1954–1962. It was the first COIN title designed specifically for two players, creating a direct contest between the French Government and the FLN insurgency.
One player controls the FLN, working to build support, organize resistance, expand influence, and prepare for independence. The other controls the Government, using military, political, and administrative tools to contain the insurgency while maintaining support in France and Algeria.
The game keeps the core COIN focus on asymmetric conflict, political control, and competing objectives, but adapts the system into a tighter two-player structure. Players must judge not only what actions to take, but how far to push before initiative passes to the opponent.
Solo play is supported only with the player controlling the Government against the FLN bot.
Colonial Twilight will appeal to players interested in modern insurgency, decolonization, and a focused two-player entry in GMT’s COIN series.
