Donnerschlag: Escape from Stalingrad

Donnerschlag: Escape from Stalingrad is a 2-player World War II wargame from VUCA Simulations covering Operation Winter Storm, the German relief attempt to reach the trapped 6th Army at Stalingrad in December 1942. The Axis player must secretly establish and reach a meeting point to open the way for a breakout, while the Soviet player works to block the operation and seal the fate of the encircled army.

Designed to be playable in one sitting, Donnerschlag leans toward high interaction and replayability rather than heavy simulation detail. The scale is operational, with each hex representing about 4 km and each turn covering 1–2 days. Combat units are mostly Soviet and Romanian brigades or regiments, while German forces are represented mainly by battalions and Abteilungen.

This is a standalone 2-player historical wargame.

Contents include: one rulebook, one mounted map, 184 counters, two player aid charts, two setup displays, 126 cards, and two six-sided dice.
