EastFront Second Edition

EastFront Second Edition is a strategic World War II block wargame from Columbia Games, covering the massive struggle between Germany and the Soviet Union from Operation Barbarossa in 1941 through to the final drive toward Berlin.

One player commands the Axis forces, while the other controls the Soviet Red Army. The game is played on a large map of the Eastern Front, with wooden blocks representing German corps, Axis allied armies and Soviet armies. As in other Columbia block games, units stand upright with their labels hidden from the opponent, creating fog of war and uncertainty about enemy strength and intentions.

The campaign is divided into six-month scenarios, allowing players to fight shorter campaigns such as Barbarossa, Stalingrad or Kursk, or link scenarios together for longer games. Production, headquarters activation, weather, railways, terrain and long-running battles all shape the flow of play. Combat can continue over multiple turns, making major offensives feel like sustained operations rather than single isolated battles.

EastFront is part of Columbia’s larger World War II series alongside WestFront and EuroFront, with the second edition designed for improved integration with the wider system. It is a strong choice for players interested in strategic Eastern Front warfare, hidden-information block games and large-scale WWII campaigns.

Contents include: 130 wooden blocks, labels, two large mapboards, 60 die-cut markers, rules, order of battle cards and four dice.
