Enemies of Rome is a 2 to 5 player historical strategy game from Worthington Publishing, set across the Roman world from 300 BC to 300 AD. Each player is a leader of Rome’s legions, using cards to expand Roman power, confront enemy peoples, gain glory, and outmaneuver rivals in the struggle to become the one true Caesar.
The game board covers Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, giving players a broad Roman-era theatre of conquest and crisis. A 55-card deck drives movement, events, enemy actions, and opportunities, while wooden cubes represent Roman legions and the many enemies threatening the empire.
Players must decide when to expand, when to convert enemies into allies, when to recruit new legions, and when to invest glory into political influence. Alliances can form to block a rising rival, but every player is ultimately competing for their own path to power. Special battle dice resolve combat, and historical event cards help ensure that no two games play exactly the same way.
