Goose Green (ziplock)

Goose Green is a Tactical Combat Series game covering the first major land battle of the Falklands War, fought on 28 May 1982.

Originally intended as a raid, the British attack developed into a full 14-hour battle against dug-in Argentinian forces. The British needed a land victory after suffering naval losses, while the Argentinians needed to prove they could stand against a professional British force.

The game covers the entire battle at 20–30 minute turns, 125 yards per hex, and section-to-platoon scale. Both sides field roughly reinforced battalion-sized forces, making this a focused and quick-playing TCS title with strong replay value.

The British player must drive across the map, reduce Argentinian resistance, capture Goose Green, and do so without taking excessive losses. Supporting arms are limited, so artillery, MILAN ATGMs, mortars, and machine guns must be used carefully. The Argentinian player has more men, prepared positions, minefields, trenches, heavy weapons, AA guns, artillery, and air support, but must manage lower training and tempo against a more aggressive opponent.

With minimal special rules, Goose Green brings the Tactical Combat Series into the modern era while keeping the focus on classic infantry combat, command decisions, and the difficult timing of attack, withdrawal, and reserve commitment.
