Highway to the Reich: Operation Market Garden

Highway to the Reich: Operation Market Garden is a large tactical World War II monster wargame from Decision Games covering the Allied airborne invasion of Holland in September 1944. More than 35,000 Allied airborne troops drop into the Netherlands to seize and hold the vital highway corridor, while British XXX Corps attempts to drive north and link the operation together before German resistance can recover.

The game covers the corridor from the Meuse-Escaut Canal to Arnhem, with separate map areas for the major airborne divisions and the long ground advance. Units are represented at company level for infantry, battery level for artillery, anti-tank, and anti-aircraft units, and troop level for tanks and armored cars.

The system focuses on firepower, morale, command, and communications. Each formation activates through a simple turn structure, resolving command communications, maneuver, barrages, fire attacks, and close assaults. Optional rules add hidden movement, multiplayer options, and the possibility for the Allied player to attempt a different operational plan.

Contents include: four 22×34 inch maps, 2,520 counters, rules and scenario booklets, full-color organizational charts, player aid cards, and an 11×17×2 inch box.
