Designed by Grant Wylie and Mike Wylie, this fast-playing tactical wargame captures the epic battles of the Second Punic War—including Trebia, Lake Trasimene, Cannae, and Zama.

Designed for 1 to 2 players with scenario playing times of 45 to 90 minutes, Hold the Line: Hannibal utilizes an intuitive Action Point system, custom dice, and modular tactical battlefields, offering a rich ancient warfare experience that sets up quickly and plays smoothly.

The Clash of Superpowers in the Ancient Mediterranean

For over sixteen years, Hannibal Barca marched across the Italian peninsula, inflicting crushing defeats on Roman armies and challenging the supremacy of the Roman Republic. Hold the Line: Hannibal brings the key engagements of this historic conflict to the tabletop, putting players in control of Numidian cavalry charges, Spanish scutarii, Celtic infantry, war elephants, and disciplined Roman legionaries.

Powered by Worthington’s popular Hold the Line tactical rules, the game emphasizes command friction, formation integrity, and decisive tactical maneuvers over tedious table lookups.

Key Gameplay Mechanics & Features

• Action Point Command System: Generals receive a variable number of Action Points (APs) each turn to order specific units to move, rally, or attack—simulating the difficulty of battlefield communication in ancient warfare.
• Formations & Tactical Synergy: Position heavy infantry phalanxes to anchor your battle line while using fast light cavalry on the flanks to execute Hannibal's famous double envelopments.
• Modular Mapboards & Terrain Tiles: Set up historically accurate battlefields using interlocking terrain tiles for rivers, hills, woods, and ancient coastal roads.
• High Solitaire Suitability: Open information, fast-resolving combat tables, and clear scenario objectives make it an outstanding title for solo gamers controlling both sides.
