Operational Matters: An OCS Guide with Sicily II is a support magazine devoted to MMP’s Operational Combat Series, edited by Mark Milke.

The magazine includes a mix of game-specific strategy articles, broader system analysis, and practical guidance for understanding the nuances of OCS play. Newer players will especially benefit from the detailed look at the Primosole Bridge scenario from the included game, Sicily II.

Sicily II is a full-sized OCS game covering the Allied invasion of Sicily in summer 1943. This edition revises the original 2000 design with a new map, updated order of battle, modified rules, and a changed scale of 3.5 miles per hex and two turns per week. The result is a smaller, faster-playing treatment of the campaign that works well as an entry point into OCS while still offering a serious operational game for experienced players.

The game includes six scenarios, from partial-map actions to full-campaign play. It covers amphibious landings, Allied airborne scatter, Axis defensive options, Italian wavering and surrender, Luftwaffe Fritz-X missiles, and variable Axis reinforcement possibilities.

Requires: the Operational Combat Series rulebook and charts, which are not included. They can be downloaded from the MMP support website if not already owned.

Contents include: one 80-page magazine including the Sicily II game rules, two countersheets, and one 22" x 34" map.

Note: The 2024 reprint incorporates minor errata but is not a new version of the original game.
