Sedan 1940

Sedan 1940 is a detailed battalion-and-below tactical wargame covering the decisive German breakthrough at Sedan during the 1940 campaign in France. Led by Guderian, the German attack through the Ardennes helped encircle much of the French army and became one of the defining operations of the early Second World War.

The game focuses heavily on combined arms warfare. Units have both Primary and Secondary Combat Values, representing different weapons and combat capabilities, while the effects of combat can vary depending on how units are grouped into forces. Advanced rules add further detail, including command-and-control friction and radio issues.

Divisions activate by chit pull, and the sequence of play is deliberately unstructured. Movement, fire combat, assaults, planned assaults and opportunity fire can unfold in a chaotic order, reflecting the confusion and tempo of the historical battle. Units include armour, infantry, artillery, anti-tank and anti-air assets, engineers, and motorized formations.
