Close Encounters is the first expansion for Space Empires: 4X, adding new ways for alien empires to clash, develop, and survive. It introduces ship boarding actions, planetary invasions with different ground troops, racial advantages, alien technology advantages, ship experience, military academies, fleet counters, fleet displays, Titans, new technologies, and additional scenarios.
The expansion is modular, so players can use the full set of new rules or add only the parts they want. It also includes new 3-player and 4-player scenarios, plus solitaire scenarios against an alien empire or invading Space Amoebas.
