World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – A Pandemic System Board Game brings cooperative Pandemic-style gameplay to the frozen continent of Northrend. Players take on the roles of legendary World of Warcraft heroes, fighting through the undead forces of the Lich King while completing quests and pushing toward Icecrown Citadel.

The familiar Pandemic system is adapted to the World of Warcraft setting with heroes, undead enemies, strongholds, quests, battles, and iconic locations across Northrend. Players must work together to control the spreading Scourge, defeat dangerous enemies, and complete the final challenge before the Lich King’s forces overwhelm Azeroth.

The game is fully standalone and does not require Pandemic or any other World of Warcraft game to play. Z-Man lists it as a 1–5 player cooperative strategy game with a 45–60 minute play time.

You will be fighting ghouls, trying to stay out of reach of abominations, using cards to boost your own character or help your allies, and placing strongholds in strategic areas of the map to move around faster. Meanwhile, the Lich King’s presence makes one region more dangerous, which may force you to rethink your plans when he appears where you were just about to complete a quest.

The final battle, if you can get there, is usually a tense affair. This is an approachable game, and one that often seems too easy right up until it does not. You may also find some very creative and fun fan-made materials on BoardGameGeek to further enhance the game."
