Against the Odds #52: Operation Ichi-Go is a magazine-format wargame on Japan’s massive 1944 offensive across China.
Product Type: Magazine issue with included wargame.
In mid-1944, with Japan’s strategic position deteriorating across the Pacific, the Imperial Japanese Army launched Operation Ichi-Go — one of its largest land offensives of the war. The campaign swept across central and southern China, aiming to break Chinese resistance, secure rail links, and overrun air bases that threatened Japan’s position.
One player commands the Japanese offensive, trying to exploit momentum and force a decisive result before time and logistics turn against them. The opposing player commands the Nationalist Chinese forces, fighting to delay, disrupt, and survive a campaign fought across a vast and difficult theatre.
The game also includes a “what if” option for Operation Causeway, exploring the possibility of a major US landing on the Chinese coast instead of the historical decision to invade the Philippines.
Contents include: one full-color 22” x 34” hex map, 252 full-color 1/2” die-cut counters, 12 pages of rules, 2 pages of charts and tables, and Against the Odds issue #52.
