Against the Odds #57: A Crowning Glory – Austerlitz 1805 is a magazine-format Napoleonic wargame on the Battle of Austerlitz, Napoleon’s great victory over the Third Coalition.

Designed by Ty Bomba, A Crowning Glory is a two-player grand-tactical simulation of the 1805 battle. The French player must press the offensive, while the Allied player commands the Austrian and Russian forces trying to hold and counter Napoleon’s army. Units represent brigades and divisions, each hex is about 600 yards across, and each full turn represents one hour of real time.

The game focuses on the decisive moment of the campaign: Napoleon appearing vulnerable, drawing the Coalition attack toward his right, and then striking through the centre to turn the battle into a crushing victory. It is rated low complexity by ATO, with playing time up to about four hours.

Contents include: one full-color 22” x 34” hex map, 216 full-color 9/16” die-cut counters, 12 pages of rules, 1 page of charts and tables, and Against the Odds issue #57.
