Against the Odds #59: Blind Faith – The Hussite Wars, 1419–1434 is a magazine-format wargame on the Hussite Wars in Bohemia.
Product Type: Magazine issue with included wargame.
After the execution of Jan Hus, Bohemia was thrown into religious revolt and civil war. The Hussite player commands Bohemian reformers divided between moderate and radical factions, inspired by Hus and led by the blind but brilliant Jan Žižka. The Imperial player commands the forces of Sigismund of Luxembourg, Catholic Bohemians, Hungarian forces, and crusading armies attempting to crush the rebellion.
Designed by Jason Juneau, Blind Faith presents the conflict as an asymmetric struggle between Imperial resources and Hussite morale, tactical skill, and local support. Players must wage war across Bohemia through campaigns, sieges, town assaults, looting, political pressure, and shifting control.
The game highlights a transitional moment in European warfare, where knights, peasants, clergy, artillery, war wagons, and religious ideology collided in a conflict that foreshadowed later wars of Reformation.
Contents include: one full-color 22” x 34” hex map, 180 assorted full-color 9/16” die-cut counters, 12 pages of rules, 2 pages of charts and tables, and Against the Odds issue #59.
