Alexander Against Persia

Alexander Against Persia is a tactical ancient warfare game in Vae Victis’ By the Edge of the Sword Antiquity series.

The game covers the first three great battles of Alexander’s campaign against the Persian Empire: Granicus, Issos, and Gaugamela. Players command either Alexander’s Macedonian army, built around the deadly combination of Companion cavalry and phalangites, or the varied forces of the Persian Empire under Darius III.

Each battle grows in scale and complexity, following Alexander’s advance from Asia Minor to the decisive confrontation that broke Persian power. The result is a focused tactical treatment of one of antiquity’s most famous campaigns, with enough variety across the three battles to show the changing scale and challenge of Alexander’s conquest.

Contents include: two 41 x 59 cm maps, one 59 x 82 cm map, 432 die-cut units and markers, one rule booklet, three battles with three scenarios of 10 to 15 turns, historical scenario variants, one player aid card, and ten storage bags.
