Antietam 1862: 2nd Edition

Antietam 1862: 2nd Edition is Volume I in Worthington’s Civil War Brigade Battle Series, covering the Battle of Antietam at brigade level. Designed as an old-school hex-and-counter wargame with streamlined modern handling, it lets players refight one of the most famous and costly battles of the American Civil War in around 3 to 5 hours.

Each infantry and cavalry counter represents a brigade, with each strength point equal to about 100 men. Artillery strength points represent two cannon, while color-coded morale ratings help distinguish green, veteran, and crack troops. The hard mounted game board uses a scale of 250 yards per hex, giving the battle enough detail to show the pressure on Lee’s outnumbered Confederate army with its back to the Potomac.

This is a strong choice for players who enjoy traditional battle wargames, American Civil War history, and manageable brigade-level systems that can be played in an evening.
