Armored Knights North Africa: Operation Crusader is a World War II wargame covering the British attempt to relieve Tobruk and drive Axis forces back in the Western Desert.
Built on the Armored Knights system, this volume focuses on battalion-level maneuver, combined arms, command, supply, and the fluid battlefield conditions of the North African campaign. The British player must coordinate a large offensive across difficult terrain, while the Axis player tries to exploit superior tactical handling, mobility, and Rommel’s ability to punish exposed formations.
The system uses variable strengths and die roll modifiers, so even a well-planned attack can produce uncertain results. Supporting arms such as engineers, anti-tank units, reconnaissance, artillery, intelligence, air defense, and air power all matter, giving players plenty to manage beyond simply pushing tank counters across desert hexes.
This is a large and serious entry in the Armored Knights line, with a substantial map area and a very healthy counter count. By Grognard Simulations standards, that is not a warning so much as a product promise.
Contents include: sixteen 11 x 17 inch map sections, six counter and marker sheets with around 1,200 die-cut counters and markers, rules, five 11 x 17 inch scenario cards, charts, tables, and dice.
