Autumn For Barbarossa: Deluxe Edition

Autumn For Barbarossa: Deluxe Edition is a Standard Combat Series game covering the struggle for Smolensk in late summer 1941, as Operation Barbarossa’s first great surge begins to slow before the later drive on Moscow.

Originally published in Special Ops magazine, this reissue keeps the original design while enlarging the counters to 5/8" for easier handling, expanding the map to suit them, and incorporating known errata.

The German player begins with the offensive in full motion and must seize key victory locations quickly. Speed is essential, because the German mechanised forces and air support will not remain at full strength forever. Once the “Hitler Roll” intervenes, German mobile forces are pulled away and air power is reduced.

The Soviet player must delay, withdraw, preserve forces, and wait for the German high tide to pass. In the second half of the game, the rebuilt Red Army has the chance to push back and recover losses where possible.

With a small map area, limited counter density, a 10-turn campaign, and high solitaire suitability, Autumn For Barbarossa is a good fit for players looking for a focused, medium-complexity Eastern Front game in the SCS system.
