Banish the Snakes is a cooperative historical game set in 5th-century Ireland, during the collapse of Roman power in the West and the spread of Christianity across the island.

Players take the role of saints, including Patrick and others, working together to convert Ireland before Britain is overwhelmed by barbarian invasions. The challenge is not military conquest, but influence: people, druids, chiefs, kings, and the High King at Tara all form a web of resistance and opportunity.

Each turn brings new events and historical pressures through the card system, while the decline of Britain adds urgency to the game. The result is an unusual GMT title: cooperative, thematic, and focused on cultural transformation rather than battlefield command.

This is a good choice for players looking for a historical co-op game with a distinctive setting and a lighter touch than GMT’s heavier wargames.
