Crimea: Conquest & Liberation is an Operational Combat Series game covering the campaigns fought across the Crimean Peninsula during the Eastern Front of World War II.
The game spans both Axis ascendancy in 1941–42 and the Soviet resurgence of 1943–44. Scenarios cover Manstein’s initial invasion, the Soviet amphibious counteroffensive, Operation Trappenjagd, the assault on Sevastopol, the fighting around the Taman Peninsula, and the final Soviet reconquest of Crimea.
The map covers Crimea, the Taman Peninsula, and southern Ukraine from Kherson to Mariupol. The long timeframe lets players experience changing operational conditions, from German siege artillery and Luftwaffe support to increasing Soviet strength, amphibious operations, torpedo bombers, partisan warfare, and the ability to cross the Sivash.
Although it uses the full OCS system, Crimea is a relatively small, low-counter-density entry in the series, with one map and seven scenarios. It can be played as a standalone OCS game or combined with The Third Winter to alter that game’s southern map boundary.
This is a strong choice for OCS players interested in the Eastern Front, siege operations, amphibious counteroffensives, and a compact but varied operational campaign game.
Contents include: OCS rulebook v4.3, Crimea game-specific rulebook, Crimea playbook with scenarios and commentary, OCS charts and tables, one full-colour 22" x 34" map, three countersheets with 840 counters, terrain effects chart, two Axis player aid cards, three Soviet player aid cards, box, and dice.
