Played over seven days in late October 1956, Days of Ire pits the Soviet side against the Hungarian revolutionaries fighting in Budapest. One player can control the Soviet forces, using headline cards, militia, snipers, and tanks to suppress the uprising, while 1 to 3 opposing players cooperate as revolutionary leaders trying to gather resources, recruit fighters, resolve events, and keep the city from falling.

The game can be played solo, cooperatively, or as a one-versus-many conflict game. It combines card-driven wargame structure with cooperative planning, making it more approachable than many traditional CDGs while still keeping the pressure of historical conflict and asymmetric play.
