Europe in Turmoil: Prelude to the Great War, Deluxe Edition

Europe in Turmoil: Prelude to the Great War, Deluxe Edition is a two-player card-driven strategy game from Compass Games set in Europe before the First World War. One player represents Liberal, Pacifist and Socialist forces, while the other represents the Authoritarian powers of the great Central and Eastern European empires.

The game covers the naval arms race, revolutionary movements, alliance-building, diplomatic crises and the rising tensions that could lead to the outbreak of the Great War. Players must compete for political influence while deciding how far to push alliances and crises, knowing that preparing for war may also make war more likely.

This Deluxe Edition updates the original game with revised components, incorporated errata, added clarifications, a mounted map, new player aids and a new scenario. It is designed to align more closely with Europe in Turmoil II, making it a natural companion for players interested in the political road from the Belle Époque to the interwar years.

Contents include: four counter sheets, one 22″ x 34″ mounted map, two player aids, one Naval Arms Race Chart, 110 strategy cards, 20 Stability Check cards, 35 Mobilization cards, one rules booklet, one blue 6-sided die, one yellow 6-sided die, and a box with lid.
