Great Pacific War: New Edition 2023

Great Pacific War: New Edition 2023 is a strategic-level World War II board game covering the War in the Pacific from December 1941 through 1946. Players control the major military, political and economic decisions of the Japanese, American, British and Soviet forces as the conflict spreads across the Pacific and Asia.

Using the same core system as Avalanche Press’ Third Reich, the game combines land, air and naval warfare with production, alliances, national strategy and resource pressure. Japan must decide where to strike and how to secure the resources it needs, while the United States must build from an unprepared position into a dominant military power. Britain, the Soviet Union, China and the Netherlands all shape the wider strategic picture.

The game includes multiple scenarios covering all or part of the Pacific War, including an alternate 1931 conflict inspired by Hector Bywater’s The Great Pacific War. It also includes rules for linking with Third Reich, allowing players to simulate the wider Second World War with up to seven players.

Game scale is strategic: 60 miles per hex, three months per turn, with units represented at corps, fleet and air army level. This is a strong choice for players interested in grand strategy, Pacific War planning, and the interaction of military, political and economic pressure across a vast theatre.
