Incredible Courage 1809: Alt-Eglofsheim

Incredible Courage 1809: Alt-Eglofsheim is a tactical Napoleonic wargame covering the French pursuit of the Austrians after the Battle of Eckmühl.

The battle pits General Nansouty’s French cavalry divisions against a smaller Austrian cavalry rearguard trying to delay the pursuit and buy time for the main Austrian army to escape. With only cavalry and a handful of artillery batteries involved, the fight is built around charges, counter-charges, timing, and maneuver rather than dense infantry lines.

The game is designed as a good introduction to the Incredible Courage system, with lower counter density and enough space to maneuver while still keeping the system’s detail. Features include variable combat strengths, elite units, Levels of Order, randomized movement by commander leadership, and a dispatch rider system where orders may be delayed, misunderstood, or ignored.

It is a strong choice for players interested in Napoleonic cavalry actions, tactical command friction, and a detailed system that remains playable in an afternoon. Solitaire play is also well supported.

Contents include: four 11 x 17 inch maps, two full-color order of battle charts, charts and tables, approximately 600 die-cut counters and markers, and two scenarios covering smaller portions or the full battle.
