Iron, Blood, Snow & Mud is a quick-playing two-player hex-and-counter wargame covering the Eastern Front of the Second World War. One player commands the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union, pushing east with speed, armour, air power, and fragile supply lines. The other commands the Soviet defence, absorbing the early shock before rebuilding strength for a counteroffensive.

The game is played across the years 1941–1944, with each year divided into different seasons. Mud and snow directly affect what units and actions can be used, making timing, supply, and movement chains central to the campaign. The Axis player must seize and hold key objectives before time runs out, while the Soviet player can win through endurance, counterattack, and the recapture of critical cities.
