Kawaguchi’s Gamble: Edson’s Ridge

This tactical World War II wargame covers the fighting around Edson’s Ridge and the surrounding jungle south of Henderson Airfield on Guadalcanal in September 1942. The Japanese player commands the forces committed to Kawaguchi’s multi-pronged attack, while the American player defends the ridge and airfield perimeter with Marine units under intense pressure.

The game uses alternating impulses and variable-length turns to create a tense battle of timing, assaults, local counterattacks, and defensive coordination. Banzai charges, key leaders, and improvised defensive forces all help recreate the desperate character of the battle.

Contents include: one 22" x 34" full-colour mapsheet, two sheets of 5/8" counters, full-colour rulebook with examples, and four six-sided dice.
