North Africa: Afrika Korps vs. Desert Rats, 1940–42 is a Standard Combat Series wargame covering the Western Desert campaign from the beginning of Operation Compass to the battles of El Alamein.
The game brings the subject of MMP’s large Operational Combat Series title DAK into a tighter, faster-playing SCS format. It preserves the sweep of the North African campaign while reducing the footprint, counter density, and rules overhead.
Supply remains central to play. A unique activation system tied to Supply Units forces players to prepare major offensives rather than simply attack everywhere at once. Supply is scarce, easy to track, and naturally reflects the logistical pressure that shaped the real campaign.
The game also includes leaders, forts, mines, random events, capture awards, withdrawals to distant theatres, the Greek Campaign, and optional Operations rules that let players frame their moves within larger plans. Scenarios range from short one-turn battles such as Operation Brevity and First El Alamein to full campaign starts covering the wider desert war.
This is a strong choice for players interested in North Africa, operational desert warfare, and a more accessible SCS treatment of a classic campaign.
Contents include: SCS Series rulebook version 1.8, North Africa game-specific rules and scenario booklet, four full-colour 22" x 34" maps, 560 counters, box, dice, and ten scenarios / campaign starts.
