Orange Swan: Pacific War 1941–45 is a strategic World War II block wargame from VentoNuovo Games, covering the Pacific War from Pearl Harbor to the final Allied drive toward Japan.
The game’s title links it to Black Swan, VentoNuovo’s World War II game on Europe, while also referencing War Plan Orange, the United States’ pre-war planning for a conflict with Japan. Orange Swan uses many of the same core ideas as Black Swan, but shifts the focus toward the Pacific’s air-naval war, island campaigns, long-range planning, and the challenge of projecting power across ocean spaces.
As a block game, Orange Swan uses fog of war as a central feature: players cannot know the exact identity or strength of enemy forces until they are revealed in combat. The game also introduces the Oceanic Blitz phase, translating the dynamic double-turn idea from Black Swan into the naval theater.
Scenarios include Pearl Harbor and Midway to Guadalcanal, while campaign options cover the full 1941–45 war or shorter starting points. Orange Swan can also be combined with Black Swan for global World War II campaigns such as Danzig to Hiroshima and Waking the Giants.
This is a strong fit for players looking for a Pacific War game with strategic scope, hidden information, naval focus, and enough flexibility for solo, two-player, or multi-player sessions.
Format: Boxed block wargame.
Contents include: more than 500 game pieces, over 220 unit counters, a 124 x 86 cm heavy cardboard map, player aids, rule book, scenarios, and campaigns.
