Italian volunteers under Giuseppe Garibaldi’s Hunters of the Alps face Austrian forces in the mountain terrain near Lake Como. Players can play individual phases of the battle or the full engagement, with optional rules for improved Austrian training and troop control.

The Small Battles system uses activation chits and operational orders to reflect the difficult, broken terrain of the northern Italian theatre, where battles often developed company by company and command decisions had to be made under pressure.
