Rommel’s War is a two-player WWII wargame from Worthington Publishing covering the first year of the desert war, from March 1941 to January 1942. One player commands Rommel’s Axis forces, while the other commands the British under Wavell and Auchinleck as both sides struggle for advantage in North Africa.
The design keeps the rules short and the pace brisk, with only eight pages of rules and a playing time of about one hour or less. It is built for quick decisions rather than long procedure, making it a good fit for players who want a desert campaign game that can reach a clear result in a single evening.
Combat is diceless. Battles are resolved by comparing strength and the quality or type of units committed, so players must decide when to reinforce a fight, when to hold units back, and when the desert itself is already doing enough damage. Supply is central: keeping forward units in supply, protecting lines of communication, and using unit speed well are all key parts of the campaign.
