The Breach – Core Game

The Breach – Core Game is a competitive cyber-fantasy net-crawler board game for 1 to 4 players. Each player becomes a Breacher, a digital rebel entering the mysterious Gene.sys Database to steal secrets from the Achab Corporation while spreading viruses, upgrading an Avatar, and fighting both rival Breachers and hostile I.C.E. controlled by the A.R.M. Firewall.

The modular Database, different Breachers, Avatars, programs, cheat codes, objectives, and enemy threats give each game a different tactical puzzle. Players must manage resources, explore rooms, install programs, survive attacks, and decide when to fight directly or manipulate the system for a smarter route to victory.

This is the standalone core game.

Contents include: Avatar and I.C.E. miniatures, Avatar bases, player interfaces, Firewall board, Avatar sheets, Breacher cards, Malware, Objective, I.C.E., Reward, Breach and Activation cards, Guardian sheet, reference sheets, cubes, I.C.E. tracks, tokens, dice, rooms, and program sleeves.

The Breach can look overwhelming at first, especially with its boards, miniatures, cards, icons, and cyberpunk terminology spread across the table. In practice, it starts to flow surprisingly well after the first round or two. Once players understand the turn structure and what their Avatar can do, the game becomes much smoother and the final stretch can get very tense.

The most satisfying part is that The Breach gives you tools to solve the problems it throws at you. Enemy I.C.E., rival players, positioning, objectives, and timing can all get in your way, but clever use of programs, abilities, cheat codes, and movement can open routes you did not see at first. It is also visually stunning on the table, with a strong cyber-fantasy presence that makes the Database feel like a real place you are fighting through.
