Toulon, 1793: Napoleon’s First Great Victory is an operational-level wargame covering the siege of Toulon during the French Revolutionary Wars.
The game follows the campaign from the Anglo-Spanish landing, invited by the rebel Toulonnaise, through to the evacuation of the town after Republican batteries under the rising Napoleon Bonaparte threatened the Allied fleet.
Using an area-based system and weekly turns, Toulon, 1793 covers the full campaign across the region from Ollioules to Solliès and from Mount Faron to Cap Cépet. Operation points are central to play, creating a wide range of decisions around movement, combat, losses, coordination, and timing.
The game also includes campaign chrome such as spies, gendarmes, multinational forces, cooperation problems, reconnaissance, variable reinforcements, and the political-military complexity of a siege fought by several competing powers. It is suitable for two to seven players, making it an unusually flexible operational treatment of an early and important moment in Napoleon’s career.
Contents include: one 22" x 34" map, 200 0.6" game counters, 320 0.6" game markers, a 24-page rulebook, 12-page playbook, 12-page historical booklet, five 8.5" x 11" charts, and the campaign game.
