Against the Odds Annual 2019: La Vendée 1793 is a magazine-annual wargame on the counter-revolutionary rising in western France during the French Revolution.

Designed by John Poniske, La Vendée 1793 is an area-movement game about the first Royalist rising in the Vendée. The “White” Royalist player must capture and hold Republican fortresses, preserve momentum, and try to keep the revolt alive long enough for possible English intervention. The “Blue” Republican player must bring superior forces to bear, suppress the rebellion, and use harsh measures before the revolt can become a wider threat.

The game highlights the military, political, religious, and social pressures of the Vendée uprising, including local support, scorched-earth policy, partisan action, and event cards that create opportunities and crises for both sides. The Annual also includes the bonus game A Day of Infamy, covering the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, plus additional cards for Die Atombombe from ATO #50.

Contents include: one full-color 22” x 34” area map, 176 full-color 5/8” die-cut counters, 26 cards, 20 pages of rules, 2 army display charts, bonus game material, and the 2019 Against the Odds Annual.
