Traces of Hubris

Traces of Hubris is a two-player operational World War II wargame from VUCA Simulations covering the German Case Blue offensive in southern Russia during the second half of 1942. The German objective was to cut the Volga at Stalingrad and seize the oil fields of the Caucasus, while Soviet forces fought to delay, defend, and prepare for the chance to strike back.

The Axis player must break through Soviet defensive lines and eliminate Soviet forces quickly enough to reach key objectives. The Soviet player must hold the homeland under pressure, trading space, time, and strength until the German advance begins to overextend. With division- and corps-level units, a hex scale of 22.5 kilometres, and turns covering two weeks to one month, Traces of Hubris focuses on the operational sweep of the campaign rather than tactical battlefield detail.

Format: Boxed operational wargame.

This is a standalone historical wargame for 1–2 players, with high solitaire suitability and a playing time of approximately 3–6 hours.

Contents include: a two-piece box, two map sheets with a combined size of 830 x 1180mm, three counter sheets with 319 counters, two A4 player aid sets with two sheets each, one track card, a 20-page A4 rulebook, and one six-sided die.
