The War of the Worlds: France

The War of the Worlds: France is a solitaire, low-complexity board wargame from DVG, placing you in command of French human forces during a desperate defence against invading Martian Tripods.

You control the human side of the war, planning production, movement, defence, and attacks while the game system commands the Martian invasion. Each game plays in about an hour, making it a compact solitaire title with a clear science-fiction conflict and accessible rules.

This France volume gives the human defenders a different character from the English campaign. French forces are cheaper to raise, reflecting their available soldiers and equipment, but they are also less skilled and harder to coordinate. Battles can become larger, but French units may suffer heavier losses, and movement during production is more expensive due to weaker leadership and organization.

The Martians remain a deadly threat, arriving in waves of Tripods and forcing the player to make hard choices about where to defend, where to counterattack, and how long humanity can hold out.
