Worldspanner Factions: Set 1 – Heroes is the required core set for the Worldspanner Factions game system, a tactical adventure game and successor to the Duel of Ages series.

Two teams of heroes from past, present, future, and stranger corners of the imagination enter the Worldspanner Arena to compete for glory. Players divide into two teams, command squads of heroes, explore a modular map, gather treasure, complete quests, win faction alliances, and face rival heroes along the way.

Most points are earned through objectives, quests, treasures, alliances, and acts of renown rather than pure combat, although enemy heroes can still make the arena very dangerous. The game supports 2–8 players in two teams, with flexible team sizes and a large roster of characters for varied setups.

Set 1 – Heroes is the starting point for the line. Set 2 – Expanses adds more content, while Set 3 – Foes adds solo/co-op play and campaign content.

Contents include: 49 heroes, 90 treasures, and a selection of map pieces, giving the core game a changing arena, different teams, and varied treasure options from game to game.
