WWII Commander: Market-Garden is a fast-playing area-based wargame covering the Allied offensive in Holland in September 1944.
The Allied player must seize key objectives with airborne forces while pushing ground troops up the highway corridor before the operation stalls. The German player must delay the advance, counterattack from multiple directions, and destroy isolated airborne units before they can be relieved.
Designed by John H. Butterfield, the game keeps rules simple while creating constant player interaction through alternating activations. Market-Garden-specific rules cover airborne landings, variable weather, concentric attacks, German off-map movement, polder terrain, river assaults, and ferry movement.
Contents include: mounted 34” x 22” map, two sheets of 3/4” premium counters, rules booklet, Allied and German order of battle displays, two identical player aid cards, 50 activation cubes, 40 wooden control discs, seven 10-sided dice, and a box with lid.
