Against the Odds #51: Almost a Miracle! – The Revolutionary War in the North is a magazine-format wargame on the northern theatre of the American Revolution.
Product Type: Magazine issue with included wargame.
Using the Tarleton’s Quarter! system as its starting point, Almost a Miracle! lets players explore whether the British can impose the King’s peace on the northern colonies, or whether the American Revolution can survive long enough to create a new nation.
The game covers the military and logistical struggle across key regions of the northern war, including major campaign areas as well as less obvious theatres such as Halifax, Fort Pitt, and Quebec. Both sides face very different problems: the British must sustain armies that cannot reliably live off the land, while the Continental forces struggle with purchasing power, transportation, short enlistments, and fragile support.
Rules cover battles large and small, leadership, morale, readiness, disease, desertion, French intervention, prisoner exchanges, Loyalist support, and Native American involvement. The result is a broad campaign game about how narrow the American victory really was, and how close the British came to ending the rebellion.
Contents include: one full-color 22” x 51” set of area mapsheets, 280 full-color 1/2” die-cut counters, 16 pages of rules, 2 pages of charts and tables, and Against the Odds issue #51.
