Albuera: 16 May 1811 is Volume 1 in Paul Koenig Games’ Napoleonic Battlefield Series, covering one of the hard-fought battles of the Peninsular War.
Marshal Soult moves to relieve the British siege of Badajoz by attacking Marshal Beresford’s British and Portuguese army, only to find that Spanish forces have joined the Allied line. The French plan to outflank the Allies begins well, but determined resistance turns Albuera into a brutal test of command, timing, and staying power.
The Napoleonic Battlefield Series portrays battles at regiment and brigade level while keeping the rules accessible. Artillery bombardment, cavalry counter-charges, special events, disruption, recovery, leaders, and command rules give the game historical character without turning it into a long or heavy simulation.
This is a good fit for players looking for a compact Napoleonic battle game that can be played in an evening.
Format: Ziploc game.
Contents include: one 25" x 14" map, one 10-page color rulebook, 88 double-sided 6/10" laser-cut playing pieces, one player aid chart, three ziplock counter bags, and one die.
