Cradle of Civilization

Cradle of Civilization is a Compass Games ancient history package containing two games in one box: Sumeria to Persia and Alexander vs. Darius: The Fall of the Persian Empire. Together, they let players explore the rise of ancient Near Eastern civilizations and the final struggle between Macedon and Persia.

Sumeria to Persia is a quick-playing civilization game for two to six players, covering the Bronze and Iron Ages as city-states grow into kingdoms and empires. Players select civilizations, expand across the ancient world, build cities and wonders, and deal with events that can push history in unexpected directions.

Alexander vs. Darius is a two-player game on Alexander the Great’s campaign against the Persian Empire. It presents the conquest as a real contest rather than an inevitability, with Persian legitimacy, Macedonian war weariness, naval strategy and rebellion all shaping the outcome.

With simple mechanics, broad historical scope and two different game experiences in one package, Cradle of Civilization is well suited to players interested in ancient history, empire-building and accessible strategic games with strong historical flavour.

Contents include: one mounted 22″ x 34″ map, nine full sheets of large 0.65″ counters, two rules booklets, six player reference cards, 48 Nation/City/Epoch tiles, twelve 6-sided dice, and one box and lid set.
