D-Day at Omaha Beach is a solitaire World War II board wargame from Decision Games recreating the U.S. assault on Omaha Beach on 6 June 1944. Designed by John Butterfield, it puts you in command of the U.S. 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions as they land under fire, fight through the beach defenses, and struggle to establish a viable beachhead.
Product Type: Solitaire boxed wargame / 5th printing with mounted map.
The game system controls hidden German defenders in resistance nests overlooking the beach, then introduces mobile German reinforcements once American forces reach the high ground and the Normandy bocage. Its diceless combat system emphasizes unknown enemy deployments, correct weapon use, timing, and tactical problem-solving rather than lucky die rolls.
Event cards drive the action, control German strategy, and add historical detail such as amphibious landings, German artillery and rocket barrages, U.S. naval bombardment, tides, engineer operations, leadership under fire, and American initiative. The game can also be played cooperatively by two players, each controlling one U.S. division.
Scenarios include The First Waves, Beyond the Beach, and the full D-Day at Omaha Beach scenario covering the entire day from 6:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Contents include: one 34×22 inch mounted board, 352 die-cut counters, 55 playing cards, color rules booklet, player aid cards, and storage bags.
