Engine Thieves

Engine Thieves is a railway adventure game from Compass Games’ Golden Age Collection, inspired by the historic Great Locomotive Chase of the American Civil War. One side controls the raiders attempting to steal a train, sabotage the railway and escape, while the Confederate side races to stop them before they cause too much damage.

As the Raiders player, you must cut telegraph wires, burn bridges, damage track, disrupt communications and stay ahead of pursuit long enough to reach Bridgeport. The challenge is doing all this without raising too much alarm across the Confederate rail network.

In two-player mode, the Confederate player hunts the raiders by foot, horseback, pole car and train. Engine Thieves turns a famous raid into a tense cat-and-mouse game of timing, deception and pursuit, with a strong historical hook and a more unusual subject than the typical battlefield wargame.

Contents include: one 22″ x 22″ mounted map, one tracking display, two player dashboards, 163 counters and markers, four pursuit cards, 11 train cards, 11 special station cards, 66 Raider and CSA action/event cards, 72 wooden cubes, two wooden trains, three tracking pieces, one rulebook, one design and historical dossier book, five 6-sided dice, and four player aids.
