Fall of Saigon: A Fire in the Lake Expansion

Fall of Saigon is an expansion for GMT’s Fire in the Lake, extending the COIN series treatment of the Vietnam War into the final years from the Paris Peace Accords to the collapse of South Vietnam.

This expansion shifts the focus from insurgency and counterinsurgency toward more conventional, mobile warfare between the NVA and ARVN. New rules introduce Paris Peace Talks, US posture, anti-war pressure, Northern war weariness, armor units, spearhead actions, and the changing political conditions that shaped the end of the conflict.

The expansion includes three scenarios for 1 to 4 players that extend the base game, plus a standalone-style two-player Black April scenario focused on the post-Paris struggle between North and South Vietnamese forces. New event cards, pivotal events, counters, wooden pieces, and updated player aids expand both the historical scope and the strategic possibilities.

Solo play is also updated with a card-based non-player system, giving solitaire players a more modern way to run automated factions.

Fall of Saigon will appeal to Fire in the Lake players who want to continue the story beyond 1972 and explore the final political and military struggle for South Vietnam.
