Liberty: The American Revolution

Liberty: The American Revolution is a fast-playing block wargame from Columbia Games, covering the American Revolution from 1775 to 1783. The game includes British, American and French forces, with Native American involvement and naval power also represented.

Built on the same broad foundations as Hammer of the Scots, Liberty combines card play, wintering rules and wooden block fog of war with a hex-based map of Colonial America. Players must deal with very different strategic problems: the British have military power but must project and sustain it across distance, while the Americans must survive, coordinate resistance and make the most of French intervention.

This is a strong choice for players interested in the American Revolution, accessible block wargames and historical strategy games that play quickly while still showing the major pressures of the war.
