Napoleon’s Resurgence: War of Liberation, Part I is an Operational Studies Group wargame on Napoleon’s 1813 Spring Campaign in Saxony.

After the disastrous retreat from Russia, Napoleon rebuilt an army with remarkable speed and advanced into Saxony with mostly newly raised troops. The game covers the critical spring battles in which he tried to regain the initiative against the Russian and Prussian Coalition before the war widened further.

As part of OSG’s The Library of Napoleonic Battles system, Napoleon’s Resurgence emphasizes command, maneuver, battlefield approach, historical terrain, and the operational tempo of Napoleonic warfare. It is a strong fit for players interested in the moment when Napoleon still had the skill and energy to win battles, but no longer had the cavalry, veterans, or strategic margin he had enjoyed in earlier campaigns.

The battles covered include Lützen, Bautzen, and Luckau, with the larger Bautzen battlefield using an expanded map area.
